Join The Love More Movement's Ascension Ceremony to Bury Past Trauma and Celebrate Healing and Transformation at Union Temple Baptist Church, 1225 W St SE, Washington, DC 20020, on April 6, 2023, 1 pm to 4 pm.
The ceremony will be a Brave and Sacred space for a group of committed Journeyers, who are taking a course to become Transformative Life Coaches and Healing Leaders, to celebrate the group’s commitment to Healing themselves, their families, and their communities, releasing past trauma, and moving to Transformation. Journeyers and those attending will have the opportunity to release past traumas and then have them buried in a communal grave in the Stoddert Terrace Community, a Housing Authority property in S.E. Washington, D.C. Mama Karen Settles, a lifetime member of the Stoddert Terrace Community, received the torch of activism from her mother and mentor Kimi Gray and holds the space for her community to Heal, Transform, and Shed Emotional Weight. Mama Karen will graduate with a Level Three Life Coaches and Healing Leaders Certification with the Love More Movement this September. She shares, this ceremony symbolizes letting go and moving forward with a renewed sense of hope and healing.
"Trauma can have a profound impact on a person's life, and it's important to acknowledge and heal from those experiences," said Sonya Cooper, a Union Temple Baptist Church partner and long-time community advocate and activist. "Our Ascension Ceremony is a powerful way to release the emotional weight of past trauma and move forward in a positive direction."
The event is open to anyone who has experienced trauma and is seeking a supportive community to aide in their Healing and Transformative Journey. This means, all are invited!
